Spook™ Drawings & Collage 2005
These were the first objects to be created in the Spook™ series. My wife & I rented a house in Mexico. Those three weeks yielded these images that are forensic reconstructions of what James Armistead Lafayette would've looked like during the American Revolution. They are based on a portrait by John Blennerhasset Martin.:
1. James Armistead Lafayette, side view
2. The Marquis LAfayette (James's partial name sake) & James Armistead Lafayette
The others are playful constructions of other characters in the Spook™ project.:
3. A portrait collage of the British General Cornwallis (who did seem to be in his own way.)
4. The "phantom surrender" of Cornwallis to George Washington (Cornwallis never showed for the actual surrender ceremony. But it is frequently depicted by artists because, technically speaking, that is what happened)
